Beer Heads to Landfill

March 2nd, 2010

As much as I don’t like Budweiser, I can’t endorse spilled beer, or beer being thrown away. Early this morning, a tractor-trailer full of Budweiser jackknifed and spilled its load on the side of the road.

Investigators said the driver was northbound on Highway 15 when he ran off the right side of the roadway and overcorrected, causing the big rig to jackknife.

The load of Budweiser then shifted, causing the tractor-trailer to overturn and slide off the right edge of the road.

The worst part it all the beer was loaded into a giant dumpster and taken to the landfill courtesy of health department orders. Too bad I don’t live near Scotland County, Missouri, or I would be engaged in some serious dumpster diving.

It’s Not Hard to Sell Beer, if You’re the Only Option

January 28th, 2010

The poor fans at this year’s World Cup will have no choice but to enjoy(?) Budweiser: The Great American Lager while watching the games at the stadiums. Those at the fan parks, however, will be treated to some no-name brand beer as Anheuser-Busch is not sure they can meet demand outside of game stadiums.

Budweiser has decided not to supply its product to fan parks and fests, but is confident of meeting the demand for its brand at the stadiums, where it will be the only beer sold in terms of its position as an official sponsor of the tournament.

The World Cup used to sound fun, but I would rather watch it at home with a nice pint of real beer, than to have to drink pint after pint of imported (read:expensive) Bud. Two thumbs down to FIFA for ever thinking it was a good idea to showcase Budweiser as the beer of soccer fans, but I’m sure FIFA got a healthy check for it.
