Beer Review: Glacier Brewery Sampler

Sample Tray at Glacier Brewery

Glacier Brewing Company in Polson, MT

Here we are up in Polson, MT and the Glacier Brewery finally opened (you have to wait till 4 here!). Stopping in a for a quick sampler platter and some short reviews in the form of thoughts about the beer, not real coherent format, but fun. They also brew some sodas up here which were included in the samples. They were really good,  and even if you are a beer person I would give them at least a sample if you are up here.

Cherry Cream Soda: Delicious, not overly powerful cherry, good cream soda flavor

Root Beer: Very Creamy, also delicious, bring the kids

Golden Grizzly Ale: Smells like buttered toast, very light and sessionable, tastes a bit like buttered toast too, with sweeter malty hints

Port Polson Pilsner: light, clear appearance, classic american pilser, carbonated with apple notes

North Fork Amber Ale: sweet and fruity hop nose, rich flavor, candy sweetness with a fruity hop finish

Glacier Select Oktoberfest: Actually when we started this beer, the guy serving the beers brought over a sample of locally made cheese that uses the Glacier Select. What a treat it was, check for the cheese shop opening soon. Back to the beer: Sweeter nose than the rest, though with good balance. Fairly mild flavor for an Oktoberfest, but also very drinkable.

Slurry Bomber Stout: Heavy roasted chocolate nose, thin for a stout, nice sweet roasted flavor that ends in a sort of burnt earthy booze.

Flathead Cherry Ale: smells like cherries and a tad of almond extract, cherry flavor doesn’t compare to the smell (don’t let it fool you!), just what you would expect from a light cherry beer, probably great mixed with a stout.

Wild Wolf Wheat: light wheat aroma, mild flavor, a great addition to any summer party.

Overall, I loved  the Glacier Brewery. The people there were nice, friendly and great. It was a cozy place to spend the afternoon and blog over a few pints. If only the weather were warmer, there is a nice beer garden outside with plenty of room! Can’t wait to come back.
