Lightest Beer in the World

January 14th, 2010

Anheuser-Busch plans to release its new light beer, “Select 55,” nationwide on the first of February. It has been in testing in 14 different cities since August of last year. The beer has only 55 calories and 1.9g of carbohydrates in a 12oz serving, making it the lightest beer on the market. In comparison, XXX Vitamin Water has 50 calories and 13g of carbs in an 8 oz. serving.

[Select 55], the premium light, American-style lager is brewed with caramel malts and a blend of imported and domestic hopping, offering a crisp, clean finish.

The competition going on between the large beer conglomerates to see who can make the lightest beer is getting a little bit ridiculous. It seems more of a contest to see who has the bigger balls and will make what is basically flavored water and market it as beer.
